Are you a Generator or MG that wants to leave your job but can’t quit yet? This is for you!
Hello! I have a new YouTube video on a common question I often get from Generators and MGs:
What do you do when your job no longer energizes you, but you financially need to stay?
If you’re in this situation, first of all, you’re not alone. It’s something many of us go through, myself included. So, let’s dive in and explore how to navigate this challenge while honoring your design.
As a Generator or MG, your decision-making process is rooted in your sacral response—that gut-level “yes” or “no” that signals whether something is right for you (and the additional lens of your Emotional Authority if you have it. However, just recognizing that your job isn’t energizing doesn’t always mean it’s time to leave immediately. Timing is key.
Because you’re designed to make decisions through external cues that trigger a sacral response, you might receive a response telling you that you would like to leave your job or that you won’t be there forever, but you might not have received the response yet that you should quit. It can feel frustrating to know that something is no longer energizing for you yet also know it’s not the right moment to make a move. However, this situation doesn’t have to be negative if you know how to navigate it gracefully in alignment with your naturally magnetic aura. I went through this exact chain of events! If you’d like to hear more about my story, I talk about it in the video!
If your job isn’t energizing but leaving isn’t an option, here are some actionable steps:
1. Pull Back Your Energy
The concept of “quiet quitting”—doing the necessary work without overextending yourself—aligns well with Generator energy. If your job no longer lights you up, try scaling back:
Avoid taking on extra responsibilities.
Refrain from working overtime.
Conserve your energy for energizing hobbies, relationships, or planning your next steps.
For MGs, channeling energy into side projects or creative outlets can be particularly satisfying. These may even grow into your next career move.
2. Explore Opportunities to Improve Your Current Role
Sometimes, small changes can make your current job more tolerable:
Could you shift to a different team or work from home more often?
Is there a way to take on projects that excite you?
Would advocating for a raise or promotion help you feel more aligned?
Even minor adjustments can improve your experience and prepare you for your next step.
3. Focus on Stability and Preparation
If you’re uncertain about your next move, consider what you need to feel secure:
Save money to cushion your transition.
Work on your mental health.
Reduce expenses.
Invest in tools or skills that might support your future goals (e.g., a reliable computer or a certification).
Meeting your basic material needs is crucial before pursuing soul-aligned work.
4. Listen to Your Inner Authority
Your sacral or emotional authority plays a pivotal role:
Sacral Authority: Trust that the consistent “yes” or “no” you feel will guide you at the right time.
Emotional Authority: Ride the wave of your emotions before deciding, ensuring your response remains consistent over time.
Your Inner Authority will always be there to guide you to your next move, you just might not have encountered what you need in order to respond! In the meantime, you can notice what energizes you by paying attention to activities that make you lose track of time and feel truly alive. You can experiment with new hobbies, meet new people, or explore other interests you don’t get to do as part of your job.
As you continue to practice tapping into your Inner Guidance, you’ll start to trust what is happening, stop obsessing about the future, and notice that you are constantly responding to things around you. Five years after leaving my project management career, I’ve built a life where I rarely do anything that doesn’t energize me. It’s been a gradual journey of learning, trusting, and aligning with my design.
If you’re feeling stuck, remember that there’s a reason you are where you are. What lessons can you learn? What strengths or resources can you build in this phase? Trust that your sacral will guide you to the right opportunity at the right time. And when it does, you’ll have the energy and clarity to move forward with confidence.✨
